Christian Kjaer, Chief Public Affairs Officer at SuperNode, has been elected as the new Chair of currENT during its Annual General Meeting.
currENT is the preeminent European association of innovative grid companies, of which SuperNode is a founding member.
“In less than three decades, Europe’s economy will need to be electrified, powered predominantly by wind and solar. We will not get there without significantly accelerating the development, testing, demonstration and application of new, innovative transmission and distribution technology” says the incoming Chair.
Kjaer will take over from Susanne Nies, Smart Wires, in January 2023 who has been Chair since currENT’s inception in 2020. Kjaer holds the role of vice-Chair at present which will be taken up by Carina Lehmal, GreenwoodPower.
Kjaer expressed his gratitude for outgoing Chair and the entire currENT team:
“I would further like to thank currENT’s members for their support, and finally extend a big thank you to Susanne Nies. Without her vision, commitment and hard work, currENT would not exist. I look forward to working with Layla Sawyer, Secretary General of currENT, her team, the currENT Board and all members to continue the work of modernising Europe’s power grids and making the power system fit for tomorrow’s challenges.”
