SuperNode has commended EirGrid for the production of its Tomorrow’s Energy Scenarios 2023 Consultation Report, describing it as a crucial document, which will assist Ireland’s journey to decarbonisation. However, while it is useful to see EirGrid comparing four distinct and comprehensive scenarios out to 2050, SuperNode strongly recommends that an additonal scenario should be considered, which surpassses Government ambition. In the report, offshore wind capacity is limited and does not relect the potential for 50GW, which could be realised, a potential that the Department of Environment, Climate and communications is currently exploring in an Offshore Renewable Energy Future Framework Economic Analysis.
