The Dublin Climate Dialogues kicks off

In a few hours, the Dublin Climate Dialogues will be opened by U.S. Special Presidential Envoy for Climate John Kerry. It will close Thursday with a declaration being handed to the UK government, which will host the COP26 climate summit in Glasgow later this year.

SuperNode founder and Chairman Eddie O’Connor has created and organized this critical event in the climate calendar..

The Dublin Climate Dialogues will be bringing together some of the most influential thinkers and policy-makers from around the world to discuss and advance the climate conversation. The dialogues seek to positively shape climate ambition in the run up to the pivotal COP26 held in November of this year. The COP26 has been heralded as our last best chance to prevent the worst effects of climate change.

The conference will see a collection of presentations, speeches and panel discussions all contributing to the formation of a Declaration on how to realise net-zero pledges, methods to strengthen the 2015 Paris Agreement and actions to be adopted at COP26.

There is an esteemed list of speakers representing governments all over the world as well as leading economists and private sector representatives. The agenda includes one prime minister and six government ministers with Minister for the Environment, Climate and Communications Eamon Ryan, Minister for Finance and Eurogroup President Pascal Donoghue, and Minister for Foreign Affairs Simon Coveney from Ireland.

Other notable speakers are Dr. Fatih Birol, Executive Director of the International Energy Agency, Lord Deben, Chairman of the UK Committee on Climate Change and John Murtagh, UK COP26 Envoy.

Pat Cox, former President of the European Parliament and member of SuperNode’s board of directors will be a recurring moderator. SuperNode Chairman Eddie O’Connor will have two slots in the agenda.

He will feature on Day 1 in session 4: ‘The cost-benefit analysis of an accelerated transition’ at 14.05 – 14.40 alongside SuperNode Chief Commercial Officer Robert O’Connor. SuperNode’s Marcos Byrne and Laura Nagle will also feature in this session.

Eddie O’Connor will feature again in the Scene Setter on Day 2: ‘Engineering toward a zero-carbon future’ at 9.35 – 10.00.

SuperNode CEO John Fitzgerald will take part in the final session of Day 2, session 8 at 11.15 – 12.15, a panel discussion titled: ‘Energy system to facilitate decarbonisation’.
