Offshore wind has smashed another target, and blown all other technologies out of the water in the recent UK auction. Four projects in the Dogger Bank (approximately 100km off the coast away from public scrutiny of “destroying” the view) won 5GW of capacity at a strike price between £39.65 to £41.61 per MWh from 2023 to 2024.
The Round CfD results have come in about 30% cheaper than the strike prices achieved in 2017 of £57.50 per MWh.

For comparison, the EPR nuclear reactors for Hinkley Point have a strike price of £92.50 per MWh, and this figure increases to over £100 per MWh when inflation is considered.
