CurrENT – the European association for innovative grid technologies, of which SuperNode is a founding member – has submitted a response to the European Commission’s public consultation on primarily used components under the Net-Zero Industry Act.
In its response, CurrENT has called for the inclusion of components in superconducting cable technology, such as those developed by SuperNode, in the list of products and components considered to be used for the production of net-zero technologies.
Superconducting cables offer a key solution for grid modernisation. They are more energy-efficient, with high transmission capacity, reduced space requirements, and lower material use compared to traditional cables.
By incorporating superconducting technology components into the Net-Zero Industry Act, the EU can support the development and deployment of next-generation grid technologies that enhance resilience, accelerate decarbonisation, and strengthen Europe’s energy independence.
