The European Cyrogenic Centre for Superconductors (ECCS), SuperNode’s Dublin-based technology centre, has been fitted with a new state of the art Cryostat Assembly Facility.
This new lab feature will enable SuperNode to progress to and through Technology Readiness Level 4 (TRL4). This a critical step as SuperNode continues its progress in bringing our game changing superconductive cable technology to full commercialisation.
This new facility provides a controlled environment for the cryostat assembly process, protecting our equipment and testing materials from contamination. The installed features of the room also allow for the ‘pre-conditioning’ of our cryostats before full testing takes place elsewhere in the facility. This optimises the assembly process and allows us to test a variety of configurations of our TRL4 cryostats in a wide range of tests, including structural, thermal and functional testing.
This new feature is critical in facilitating the progression from small scale to full scale prototypes and will drive us towards a full-scale demonstration project in 2025.
This new feature will remain a valuable asset to the ECCS even as we progress beyond TRL4. SuperNode’s expert R&D team are always pushing for new innovations and enhancements to our technology and these will all pass through the new Cryostat Assembly Facility.
