Following Aker Horizons’ acquisition of 50% of SuperNode Ltd as part of their acquisition of Mainstream Renewable Power, SuperNode today welcomes two new members to its board of directors.
Kjell Inge Røkke and Karl-Petter Løken will become the newest members of SuperNode’s board of Directors. Kjell Inge Røkke holds approximately two thirds of the shares of industrial investment company Aker ASA, of which Aker Horizons is a majority owned subsidiary. Mr. Røkke is chairman of the Aker ASA Group, which had a total turnover of approximately €7.5 billion in 2020 and a workforce of approximately 28,000. The Group controls – directly or indirectly – 13 companies listed on the Oslo Euronext and Euronext Growth Stock exchanges.
Karl-Petter Løken is Investment Director in Aker Horizons and has held a number of key positions in the energy industry including President and CEO of Kvaerner, a Norwegian engineering and construction services company.
Mr. Røkke and Mr. Løken will replace Ms. Mary Quaney and Mr. Ben Backwell. There will be some further restructuring that will see Dr. Eddie O’Connor, SuperNode founder and 50% shareholder, become Chairman, while current Chairman Pat Cox, former President of the European Parliament, will remain on as a director.
